We were in Brooklyn yesterday picking up clothing from a woman whose home recently had a fire. We are so happy she and everyone else in the house are safe, and that the damage to the home was not completely devastating.
When we arrived, we had no idea what to expect. We were told that we’d be picking up a lot of clothing and possibly some carpets, but as the homeowner showed us around, we realized we were faced with a much bigger job than expected!!
And we’re totally okay with that!!
She had over two thousand garments that needed dry cleaning and ozone treatment (to get the smell of smoke from the fire out), and some carpets and tapestries as well.
What a sweet lady. She started packing up the clothing for us, but we told her not to worry.
Having a fire is a horrible experience, and the last thing one should have to worry about is packing up stuff to send out for cleaning. We were able to take care of everything for her, and her only job was to point us in the right direction.
We even took a special pile of clothing that she wanted to be cleaned and returned in only a few days for the holidays. She was so worried that she’d be without her favorite garments but was so thrilled to learn that we could take them, clean them, and return them by the end of the week.
We are so happy to help this lovely lady restore her cherished garments, tapestries, and rugs.
